Hiking paradise Allgäu

The quality of the hiking trails in Oberstaufen has already been awarded several times and the area has been named a premium hiking resort. This award has been given by the German Hiking Institute and sets high standards. Between Lake Constance and Großer Alpsee there are about 160 alps in the Oberstaufen mountain area. Many of them are open für hikers and invite you to take a break.

Our mountains

Hochgrat

The Hochgrat mountain is at 1,834 metres the highest mountain of the Nagelfluhkette mountain range. It is a popular destination for hikers.

The summit of the Hochgrat offers a magnificent view of the Allgäu Alps, Lake Constance as well as the Swiss, Vorarlberg and Lechtal Alps.

There are several ways to reach the high ridge. The easiest option is the cable car, which runs from the valley station in Oberstaufen-Steibis to the mountain station at 1,634 meters. From here you can reach the summit via a short, steep climb. At the mountain station there is a restaurant with a large sun terrace.

Another possibility is the hike from the valley station of the cable car. This hike takes about 2 hours and leads over a wide forest path.

The adventure rides with it´s cablecar such as to the sunrise, sunset or full moon are very popular amongst our guests.

 

Imberg

The Imberg mountain is a popular destination for hikers. There are numerous hiking trails of different lengths and levels of difficulty. The most popular route is the Imbergsteig, which leads from the valley station of the Imbergbahn to the mountain station. This trail is about 3 kilometres long and takes about 1.5 hours.

For families with children, the hiking trail "Imberg-Erlebnispfad" is ideal. The trail is about 2 kilometres long and leads through the forest. Along the trail there are numerous stations where children can play and learn.

The Imbergbahn is a barrier-free cable car that runs from the valley station in Oberstaufen-Steibis to the mountain station. Access to the train is easy for strollers, wheelchairs and bicycles.

At the mountain station, the Imberghaus invites you to take a break.

The Waldhochseilgarten (high ropes course) can be reached within 15 minutes from the mountain station.

Hündle

The Hündle mountain with its 1,290 metres above sea level is known for the annual crocus bloom in spring.

Summer toboggan run, mini golf course, small animal enclosure, bungee trampoline, electric cars and excavators are located directly at the valley station. Strollers, wheelchairs or bicycles can be transported comfortably in the gondola thanks to the barrier-free access. Dogs are welcome without muzzles in the gondola.
